IPL and Laser Pigmentation Treatment
Reduce Sun Damage, Dark Spots & Hyperpigmentation
If sun spots, redness, or uneven tone are dulling your complexion, IPL laser pigmentation treatments offer a gentle, effective way to restore clarity and balance—without harsh downtime or surgery. Using controlled light energy, the Nordlys™ system at Magnolia Med Spa in Farmington, CT, targets excess pigment, calms redness, and refines skin texture while stimulating healthy collagen renewal. Each treatment is customized to your unique skin type and goals, helping you achieve a brighter, more even complexion that looks naturally radiant.
How IPL and Lasers Treat Pigmentation
Both IPL (Intense-pulsed light) and laser therapy use controlled light energy to break down pigment and promote new collagen growth, addressing discoloration at different depths of the skin.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
IPL uses broad-spectrum light to gently target and break up pigment near the surface of the skin. It’s highly effective for addressing dark spots, freckles, redness, and vascular irregularities. The light energy converts to heat, helping the body naturally clear away excess pigment and small visible veins over time.
Fractional Laser Rejuvenation
Fractional laser treatments deliver precise microbeams of energy below the surface to activate collagen production and skin renewal. This method improves texture, fine lines, and overall tone without removing the outer layer of skin, making it ideal for patients seeking subtle yet meaningful rejuvenation.
Together, these two technologies form the foundation of modern pigment correction—offering natural, long-lasting results with minimal downtime.
Nordlys™ IPL & Laser Pigmentation Treatments
Developed by Candela®, a global leader in aesthetic laser technology, the Nordlys™ system combines light and fractional laser energy to target pigmentation, redness, and texture with exceptional precision. Its dual technologies—Ellipse IPL™ and Frax 1550—can be performed alone or paired in the Light & Bright™ treatment for comprehensive skin rejuvenation.
Ellipse IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light) emits a precise spectrum of light to gently fade dark spots, freckles, and vascular redness. It’s more comfortable and faster-acting than older IPL systems.
Best for: Age spots, sun damage, freckles, facial redness, thread veins, spider veins
Sessions: Most patients need 3–5 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart for best results.
Downtime: Light redness or flaking for one to three days.
Results: Many notice clearer, brighter skin within 1–2 weeks after the first session, with continued fading after each treatment. Results can last 12–18 months with proper sun protection and occasional maintenance.
This non-ablative fractional laser creates microchannels beneath the surface to trigger collagen remodeling—improving texture and firmness without removing outer layers of skin.
Best for: Fine lines, rough texture, enlarged pores, mild acne scarring, uneven tone
Sessions: Typically 3–4 sessions spaced every 4–6 weeks for cumulative improvement.
Downtime: Light redness or flaking for one to three days.
Results: You’ll start to see smoother, refined skin within 1–2 weeks, with ongoing collagen renewal for up to 3 months after your final session. Results often last 12 months or longer when supported by a consistent skincare routine.
This combined protocol pairs Ellipse IPL™ and Frax 1550 for a complete tone-and-texture refresh. IPL targets pigmentation and redness at the surface, while Frax 1550 works deeper to rebuild collagen and refine skin texture.
Best for: Multiple concerns, including sunspots, redness, and textural irregularities.
Sessions: Usually 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for complete rejuvenation.
Downtime: 1–3 days of mild redness or sensitivity.
Results: Initial brightening within 2 weeks, followed by gradual improvement in tone and smoothness over the next 6–12 weeks. Clearer, more balanced skin lasting a year or more, with optional annual touch-ups to maintain results.
